Today’s wedding from Rebekah J. Murray Photography is all about classic elegance sprinkled with playful hot pink details! Ashley and Wike were married last summer in Georgetown, and the beautiful neighborhood setting provided the perfect backdrop for a traditional ceremony followed by a nautical-inspired reception a nod to the groom’s favorite pastime at Sequoia on the Georgetown waterfront.
From Ashley: We wanted the feel to be classic, elegant, modern, but not plain. Wike loves sailing and I love the beach, so I wanted to incorporate some of those nautical details. I also love hot pink, but I didn’t want to overdo it, so I chose a couple places throughout the wedding to make it noticeable but still keeping it looking elegant.
We incorporated several heirlooms into our wedding. I wore a crystal pin in my hair that my grandmother had given me a long time ago. My mom let us borrow her silver champagne flutes from her wedding to my dad in 1975 and my beautiful engagement ring is vintage and was passed down from Wike’s great grandmother.
Absolutely gorgeous pink and white bouquets created by the team at Petal’s Edge!
I loved the sailboat place card holders!
The venue was very important, I love the beach and Wike loves sailing, so I wanted to pick somewhere with lots of light and water views that would incorporate those aspects. Also I wanted the reception venue to be simple but still spectacular and I think Sequoia really made that possible.
I love the way Ashley incorporated strips of hot pink for a playful and personal touch on their classic wedding cake from Fluffy Thoughts Cakes.
Ashley and Wike gave personalized sunglasses as party favors and, as the highlight of the night, all the guests wore the sunglasses as they sang Piano Man to the couple during the reception!
Being surrounded by all our guests, glasses in the air, sunglasses on, singing Piano Man to us, it felt truly magical and Wike and I felt so loved!
