Today’s stunningly chic Washington DC wedding from Engaging Affairs is equal parts classic and traditional Southern charm such a fabulous combination! Suzanne and Rob were married on a beautiful summer day, with a lovely ceremony in Georgetown followed by an outdoor reception around the corner from the White House all unified by a modern green and white color palette. Andrea from The Observatory was on hand to capture the day’s events, so let’s get going!
From Laura at Engaging Affairs: This DC wedding was a blend of city chic and Southern charm. The couple used a fresh green and white palette that began with the elegant Smock invitations and continued throughout the day with crisp green bridesmaids’ dresses and green and white flowers from Philipa Tarrant.
The traditional Southern-style reception featured long share tables as well as a lounge area with cushions custom embroidered with the wedding date and couple’s initials. Guests dined on shrimp-and-grits and crab cakes from Main Event Catering and then were treated to warm cookies-and-milk and mini ice cream cones passed later in the evening. The wedding cake featured the Capitol building dome on top as a nod to the couple’s new hometown and the Tupelo honey cake flavor was a nod to their first dance, “Tupelo Honey.”
