Jamie and Chad were had in an outdoor Virginia wedding ceremony at historic Whitehall Manor, nestled next to the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia. They planned a beautiful ceremony that honored their Jewish and Croatian heritage, and incorporated personal touches throughout the ceremony and reception (coming up a bit later today!). With a gorgeous pink and green color palette and floral arrangements by Holly Chapple Flowers, the wedding has a lovely classic style all captured in wonderful detail by Genevieve Leiper.
From Jamie: The day of our wedding it poured rain! We were very disappointed that it did not seem that we would be able to have our ceremony outdoors at Whitehall Manor, which is so beautiful and green in springtime. Holly Chapple even called to tell us that she would be bringing extra flowers and candles to decorate Whitehall Manor’s indoor ceremony space. As the wedding party was driving out to take photos before the event began, the clouds opened up and the sun shined.
We wanted to incorporate both of our heritages into our wedding ceremony. My bouquet featured a locket that has been in my family for generations, and I wore a ring from Chad’s late grandmother. We worked with Rabbi Ben Biber to create a ceremony with Jewish traditions, with additions of Croatian wine for the wine blessing and a Croatian love poem read in English and Croatian as an acknowledgment of my Croatian ancestry.
Genevieve Leiper was able to take some beautiful, scenic, outdoor shots for us. Then, we got the best of both worlds when rain began to fall toward the end of our ceremony. We had umbrellas on hand for guests, and we had a memorable rainy, “you may kiss the bride” moment!
