It was with a Christmas morning proposal in 2014 that made Sarah and Gus’s engagement official and they started planning their Memorial Day Weekend wedding. There was never a question about where the wedding would take place; it would be a Maryland farm wedding at Gus’s family land where they lived. They wanted their guests to experience the beautiful horse country they both hold dear. We are in love with their utilization of the amazing landscape; we couldn’t get enough of their shabby chic Maryland wedding!
Sarah and Gus wanted to create a dinner party feel to make their guests feel comfortable, as if they were with family. Utilizing their favorite areas of the property, the couple used the farm’s extensive gardens for their cocktail hour complete with passed hors d’oeuvres, a bluegrass band, and a champagne bar set up in one of the “secret” gardens that was only heard about through word-of-mouth. Guests were greeted at the tented reception by long farm tables and layers of mixed vintage china by Something Vintage Rentals, which continued the homespun feel of the day. The whole day felt like the perfect combination of rustic and elegant. All of the small details found throughout this wedding simply charmed us.
Recalling some of her favorite moments, Sarah remembers the look on Gus’s face when she surprised him with a groom’s cake replica of his BMW. She was also moved to tears when she and Gus gave their first dance to her parents who were married in a courthouse and never had a first dance of their own. This made for an amazing and memorable moment they shared with their guests. Thank you to Mike B Photography for sharing this delightful shabby chic Maryland farm wedding with us today!
