We want to close out our year of DC wedding inspiration with a roundup of our favorite real weddings, advice posts, and inspiration shoots from the last year. Given the amount of talented DC wedding vendors we have in this area, its no surprise we have so many great weddings to pick from. To start off our roundup, these are a few of our favorite colorful and fun weddings. Color is never something that we shy away from and with an abundance of unique color palette options, we don’t envy the couples having to narrow it down for their big day! Coral, yellows, dusty blues, and of course purple made the rounds this year on the blog so don’t miss out on our favorites below!
We started the year with a fun coral and navy Maryland Wedding at the iconic Chesapeake Bay Beach Club with Elizabeth Bailey Weddings and Renee Michelle Photography. With a colorful outdoor ceremony combined with a romantic indoor reception with mixed seating, we loved all parts of Cara and James’ big day!
Colorful, fun, and full of personal touches, this National Museum of Women in the Arts wedding includes so many great details! We love the personalized napkins by For Your Party that were passed with appetizers at cocktail hour. Photos by Lisa Boggs Photography.
Mixing in shades of blue, this intimate DC same sex wedding had us loving the patterns and textures woven throughout the reception. Planned by Bellwether Events, this day definitely made our favorites list for their amazing use of color without overwhelming the classic nature of the wedding decor! Photography: Connor Studios
Purple is a widely popular wedding color, and we appreciate it in all tones and shades, so when we first saw this Virginia Vineyard Wedding by A Dominick Events we were instantly in love. Using ombre tones in the bridal party, the couple then weaved softer shades of lilac an lavender into the reception on chiavari chair cushions and the long kings table centerpieces. Sabrina and Leonid’s Woodend Sanctuary Holud ceremony is like a ray of sunshine with their use of cheery yellows and vibrant pinks. Their special day, captured by Lovesome Photo, is full of laughter, dancing, and special moments that led up to their wedding day.
Julia and Hunter’s Maryland wedding hands down had our favorite centerpieces in the color category. I mean just look at those pink tulip roses, red ranunculus, and fluffy colored peonies! You will NOT want to miss in all the colorful glory that is this Woodlawn Manor Maryland wedding by Rose Gold Events & Styling and Petals by the Shore! Photos: Ashley Goverman.
First and foremost, color to us is not just the vibrant pinks or poppy yellows. It comes in the form of perfectly crisp fall hues of berry, evergreen, and rusty orange. When it’s time to break out sweaters, sip cider, and bask in the falling leaves, we know we are in for stunning wedding colors from our photographers! Sarah and Michael were married at President Lincolns Cottage surrounded by fall tones and rich textures in an intimate yet personal ceremony. Photos: Stephen Bobb Photography,
Not daunted by choosing a color story for their wedding, Becca and Matt used a rainbow of fun and dynamic colors for their Milton Ridge Maryland wedding seen earlier this year. We simply adore the invitation with a sprinkling of color that gives guests a taste of what’s to come at the wedding! Photos: Kira Nichole Photography.
