In today’s Washington D.C. wedding, the energy of the couple and laid back atmosphere are quite contagious! I don’t know whether to lead with a description of the bohemian, barefoot bride, or that they closed out the night with the Astro Donuts food truck! Guests enjoyed an array of fun activities such as lawn games as well as enjoyed a family-style Mexican inspired dinner complete with dancing all day into the night. This bohemian wedding reception was also very much a family affair amongst the vendors. The groom’s sister-in-law, a professional event planner, provided her services on the day of the wedding. Katie’s wedding dress was sewn by her brother’s girlfriend, who also tailored the groomsmen’s suits and ties as well as her own dress. Our favorite touch is that the bride’s father made the arbor for the ceremony. Talk about so much talent in one family!! The couple incorporated their alma mater, where they met, into their wedding by hanging a University of Wisconsin flag outside the house, had the badger mascot as the ring bearer, and processed out of their ceremony to the school’s fight song. We love the creative nature of this fun Josephine Butler Parks wedding ceremony and reception, and a big thank you Andrea Jacobson from The Observatory for sharing it with us!
