Megan and Alex’s Northern Virginia wedding is such a breath of fresh air after all of the rain and gloom we have had of late! We absolutely love the copper details, soft blue bridesmaid dresses, and sunshine filled outdoor ceremony. The couple were married overlooking the Potomac at the Loudoun County barn wedding venue of Murray Hill. They wanted to infuse personal touches to their wedding in the decor and details. The bride’s mother did the calligraphy on the wedding invitations and escort cards, and the couple created simple DIY projects like the petal cones for the toss bar. One touch that we really love is the southern tradition of burying bourbon before the wedding. The folklore of this tradition says that if you bury a full bottle of bourbon, upside down at the wedding site one month before the wedding it will promise a rain free wedding day. On the morning of the wedding, Alex and his gentlemen dug up the bourbon, and the tradition must have worked since they had a perfectly sunny day! Thank you to Kelley Cannon Events and Astrid Photography for sharing this beautiful Murray Hill wedding with us today!
