Welcome back to part two of Leslie and Rick’s ultra personal (and purple!) wedding in Annapolis! This cute couple exchanged wedding vows at the Annapolis Courthouse with just their parents to witness their wedding ceremony. If you missed their sweet first look, loving vows and incredible portraits in Annapolis, be sure to check it out here. Even though they opted for a small wedding ceremony, this pair had quite another idea for their wedding reception. They had a big celebration when it came time for their post-ceremony wedding party! Their purple-clad winter wedding reception took place at The Westin Annapolis where pops of gold were sprinkled throughout the wedding decor, and grand centerpieces filled the ballroom with the colors the bride had been dreaming of! This dance party was not short in details, from the ice luge to the sparkler sendoff at the end of the night, but it was the sweetheart table just for the bride and groom that really caught my eye! Leslie and Rick two had the best of both wedding worlds – intimate moments together for their wedding ceremony followed by a big dance party with all their loved ones for their wedding reception. Big thanks to DuHon Photography for sharing their winter wedding in Maryland with us!
From the bride: I always envisioned our wedding to have a classic, elegance vibe. I love the decor of parties in the 1930’s and 40’s. I wanted our wedding to bring that old elegance back. It started with the color scheme: royal purple and gold. I was very clear from the beginning that I did not want an ounce of lavender in the wedding decor. Although lavender is a beautiful color, it did not match our wedding vision. However, I did have a lavender and lace themed bridal shower!
Our signature wedding drink (The Purple Honeymoon) was created by the groom and myself. It was fun mixing drinks together to create the perfect mix for our wedding reception. My favorite details of the wedding included our “sweet heart” table. I added a lace overlay to the gold shimmer table cloth for a little extra detail. We also decided to skip the traditional ice sculpture and went with an ice luge for the reception. It was a great decision and our guests LOVED it!
Advice from the bride for other Washington DC area couples:
Stick with your wedding vision and make your wedding about you and your spouse. The wedding day goes by so fast, but enjoy every moment of the celebration. Also, take a minute during your reception with your spouse and just watch everyone and have a great time.
