Shannon and Chris’ big day was full of fun, laughter, amazing dance moves and person details, but their sweet wedding ceremony stood out to us as bride and groom looked at each other filled with such joy! The pair had their Virginia wedding in Chantilly, Virginia at St. Timothy Parish where their loved ones looked on and enjoyed pops of yellow, fuchsia, teal and other fabulous jewel tones. The bouquets were among the bride’s favorite details and we couldn’t agree more! Even the flower girl held some stunning florals as she walked down the aisle of the grand church. And we’re obsessed with the bride’s colorful shoes – a pop of the unexpected peeking out at the base of her beautiful gown! Big thanks to DuHon Photography for the beautiful photos from this Washington DC area church wedding.
From Shannon: A modern, pop art, romantic dream is the best way to describe our wedding. With my husband, Chris, being a local D.C painter and illustrator, where pop-art is his inspiration, mixed with my love for boldness, sparkles and dance, together we created the ultimate wedding weekend. We wanted our wedding to reflect us, and not be driven by the season. We took fall – the cozy, enchanting, romantic season – and amped it up with metallic turquoise and jewel fuchsia tones, mixed with classic yellow roses and modern calla lilies. With a touch of sparkle and a handful of DIY projects, we were able to not only honor our family, heritages and passions, but also our love story.
Our favorite wedding detail was our flowers. Even though we had plenty of discussions about what the bouquets and centerpieces would look like, when they arrived that morning, I had the biggest smile on my face. Our florist wrapped this turquoise wire around the bridesmaids bouquets, which not only reflected our modern twist, but was probably the most unique thing I have ever seen. He really blew us away, and they made our pop-art dream come alive.
We splurged on our wedding photographer, for sure. We knew that pictures last a lifetime, and once we met our photographer, we knew he saw our vision for the perfect unique, modern wedding. We skipped out on the all-too-famous photo booth. We wanted all of our guests to be together on the dance floor, rather than hanging out in a separate area waiting in line for pictures. Trust me, we have enough selfies to fill up three albums!
I wish I knew that every wedding planning weekend, every long night discussing tiny details, and the search for the perfect color table clothes was totally and completely worth it.
Congratulations to Shannon and Chris! Thank you for sharing your stunning jewel tone wedding ceremony with us! Stay tuned, we’re going to show you their swanky ballroom reception next!
