Welcome back to the second half of Tara and Brian’s Virginia wedding reception. Did you see their outdoor wedding ceremony that their friend’s 1800s farm on the Virignia countryside?? Yup, I said that right! If not, check it out! From a chalkboard table seating chart to a custom beer wedding favor, this wedding took DIY to a whole new level! My favorite detail? Their polaroid picture guest book. Drew Bird Photography was on hand to capture all the fun and make us all jealous that we weren’t guests!
From Tara: We homemade cakes on each table instead of one wedding cake; we had homemade flavored moonshine, we had handmade chalkboards with art done by my husband’s artist Aunt for seating, menu and directional signs.
We made our bouquets with local flowers from the Farmer’s market and drank homemade beer called Cordyack’s Last Stand!
We used a Polaroid Camera in a home made photobooth. The pictures served as a picture guest book. We ended the night with a bonfire and campout where we ate cake and ate leftovers!
Tara’s wedding planning advice to other DC-area couples:
Be true to yourself. Have the wedding YOU want and it will show-everyone will have a great time. And, you CANNOT please everyone so don’t try. We made room for kids and elderly because we wanted that but if that doesn’t fit with your vision don’t feel pressured to do it for anyone else!
