We are back with part two of Jennifer and Burke’s waterfront wedding in Maryland! Did you see their intimate outdoor wedding ceremony? Check it out first! For their reception, they kept it at the same place to make it easy and fun for their guests. I just love their idea of renting a house to celebrate their wedding! Voula Trip Photography was there to capture all of the happy memories and all of the fun little wedding details that they DIY’d!
From Jennifer: The best thing for us was having a wedding site that we not only loved, but that was flexible. We really wanted to keep costs as low as possible, so it was important to us to have a wedding ceremony and reception site that didn’t charge us extra fees or restrict the vendors that we chose. This way we were able to get the lowest priced food, tent, chairs, and didn’t have to get a bartender. Also, having the ceremony and reception at the same site kept the stress levels low. There was no worrying about the logistics of getting people from one place to another, and we reused the flowers and chairs from the ceremony at the reception.
From Jennifer: We made the chalkboards and signs on our own. We took scrap wood, chalkboard paint, empty paint cans, and quick set concrete. We put everything together…poured the concrete into the paint cans, cut the wood pieces, and painted the large pieces of wood with chalkboard paint… before the wedding. Once we got to the wedding site, a few days before the wedding, our family chipped in and painted and chalked the signs.
From Jennifer: For the flower arrangements, we prepped the mason jar vases a few weeks before the wedding. On the day of the wedding, we had family pick up the flowers from a local farm and help us arrange everything.
Jennifer’s advice for other couples: Have fun and take it easy! The day goes by so fast, so just stop a few times during wedding, take a deep breath and take it all in.
