We are back with part two of Rebecca and Seelan’s wedding in Maryland. If you want to see how to use lighting and design to turn a large wedding into an intimate affair, then you’ve come to the right place! (Did you see their wedding ceremony, if not check that out first!) Connor Studios was there to capture every detail and moment. I especially love all of the post-ceremony entertainment!
From Rebecca: Seelan has a large Indian family and we ended up inviting over 1,000 people to the wedding! Even though there were a lot of people, we still wanted to create an intimate atmosphere which was achieved through drapery, lighting and flowers. The reception took place at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. Since we got engaged in Paris, we had a French cafe band play at our cocktail hour to set a festive mood. Jewel of India served delicious appetizers and an authentic Indian plated dinner. The perfectly designed tables with large silver trees and magenta orchids along with the white drapery and magenta lighting made the room glow! We had an intimate after party in a small ballroom at the Conference center equipped with a DJ and light up dance floor to end the night.
From Rebecca: After dinner and to end off the dinner portion of the night, we had the University Maryland Bhangra dance group perform two numbers – one Bhangra and one Bollywood. Also, Seelan and I took six Waltz classes prior to the wedding and had our instructor choreograph our first dance. It was a lot of fun and I would highly recommend it for any couple!
Rebecca’s advice for other couples in the DC area:
Music is important especially for the ceremony. Don’t skimp out on the ceremony. It’s the most important part. Make it meaningful and memorable. Time your reception speeches! Don’t forget to eat before you enter the reception.
