How was everyone’s long weekend!? On this beautiful day-after Memorial Day we are bringing you a gorgeous military wedding in Annapolis! There is something about a classic, elegant military wedding that really gets me! Especially one on the bay in Maryland. Marie and Scott used their historic, bayside locale as inspiration for their wedding palette and feel, and what a good choice that was! Captured by Megan Beth Photography, this wedding is the perfect way to celebrate this post-Memorial Day week!
From Marie: We knew we wanted a simple outdoor wedding in Annapolis, where we met and started dating, and a venue that could work for both ceremony and reception. Nothing quite captures the feel of historical Annapolis like waterfront London Town House and Gardens. We used the location to develop a “bayside” theme, using shades of green and navy blue to complement the natural landscape.
Earlier in the year my husband and I had gotten an English Bulldog puppy who became such a source of happiness and entertainment for us. We couldn’t bring him to the wedding, so I took his name tag and pinned it to my bouquet for my “something borrowed.” We also had a framed photograph of him at our table.
The officiant accidentally dropped my ring through the cracks of the deck we stood on. I’d asked someone at the rehearsal if that had ever happened and they assured me it had not. Since the deck was over land and not water, I could only laugh and we used my engagement ring as a stand in. Once we walked back down the aisle, the staff recovered my ring in record time.
Scott and I have spent a lot of time rock climbing, so we decided to take two pieces of rope in our wedding colors and tie them together in the double figure eight knot used to belay climbers. It’s now displayed in our home as a reminder of our ceremony and the activity we enjoy together..
