The purple infused reception following Becca and Kyle’s outdoor wedding ceremony truly had me at hello! How beautiful is that color, infused with hints of gold!? If you can take your eyes off the monochromatic tablescapes, you’ll also find Stephen Gosling captured the duo’s love for the local wine (See those table numbers?) and their guest book that will last long through the next generation!
From Becca: I am a super detail oriented person. Because of that, and my love of crafting, we made a lot of our wedding details. Even though our final budget was high, we saved money by making our own table numbers, programs and place cards!
Kyle stained a wooden box for us in lieu of a guestbook. We created a guest card for everyone to fill out and had them placed in the box at the end of the night. It was heart warming to see all the beautiful things people wrote for us. Some of them made us laugh too! We plan to keep the box and add little mementos from our life in it. Hopefully one day our kids will look at it and get a glimpse of the people who shared our day with us. We also lit a candle in memory of those who are no longer with us. We kept the candle lit all night long. Every time I saw it, I was reminded that those people were looking down on us and smiling!
Kyle and I have a love for Virginia Wine. We wanted to incorporate that into our day and did so with wine bottle table numbers as well as a bar stocked with Afton Mountain Vineyards wine (Kyle and I’s favorite)!
Becca’s advice to other DC-area couples:
Stay Organized! I looked at magazines and took information on budgets and inspiration for all things wedding. I created a binder with all of that information and it really helped me prioritize things for the wedding. Together with our families we set a preliminary budget but allowed that budget to be changed once we shopped around for vendors. Shop around would be another piece of advice! My mother always told me not to compare apples to apples and it really helped! Not every vendor priced things out the same and she made me conscious of that when working with our budget!
