You want to tie the knot on short notice, or maybe you are tired of planning the huge affair and decide to run off. Whatever the reason, there is something special about an intimate courthouse wedding. Courthouse weddings are usually short on details, but always long on a love story. We’ll be sharing some really great, local nuptials in a special Washington DC area courthouse weddings series this week.
Meet our first courthouse couple: Anne and Jessica. They had a more formal wedding celebration in Georgia, but wanted to come to D.C. to make their marriage official after same-sex marriages were made legal in the District. I’m not sure what I love more: the bright, bold dresses on these ladies, or their note to the D.C. parking enforcement when they didn’t have enough quarters for the meter. The Observatory‘s Andrea Jacobson was at the Superior Court of DC to capture their special moment, and later joined them for a little Jazz in the Garden out on the National Mall.
Thank you so much Anne and Jessica for sharing your DC courthouse celebration with us. Check back later because we have a few more fun courthouse weddings in the DC area to share.
